  LITA'S GOURMET GIANT ROASTED CORN NUGGETS

Where We Started
A need for a brand identity for a group of food products to be sold at retail, specifically to the convenience store market; packaging for a new product launch of a Peruvian corn snack product line.

Where We Finished
Lita’s has a unique logo that can be used on a variety of food products as the line expands.  It honors Lita’s Peruvian heritage and positions the ethnicity and the handcrafted quality of the brand.  The corn nugget packaging conveys the colors and patterns one might associate with Peru.  A window on the front of the bag displays the quality of the giant corn nuggets while at the same time giving the prospective customer a preview of the product, whetting their appetites at point-of-sale to encourage the product as a pick-up snack food.

How We Got There
 In order to position this brand correctly, Lita and Andy, the clients, wanted us to understand the Peruvian origin of giant corn. They wanted us to know how the quality differed from corn products that are sold in the US market.  We learned about the authenticity of giant corn grown in the Machu Pechu region of Peru.  We also focused on Lita’s cultural ties to Peru, and the contribution that she was trying to make to the people and to the economy of Peru with the import of this product to the US market. 

We tasted all kinds of flavors of seasoned giant corn.  We decided that these giant corn kernels should be called nuggets.

With our designer and our client, we developed the logo artwork for Lita’s Foods.  Then we established the look and feel of the corn nugget product by developing the nugget packaging. The look ties into the Peruvian heritage and the large clear window on the front of the package displays the quality of the giant corn nuggets.
